My family loves this bread. Okay, they love it even more when I cook it for them…but that is another story. It freezes beautifully.

Banana Bread

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter (use the real stuff…the salted kind)
  • 2 eggs
  • 3-4 bananas (the really ripe ones) mashed
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • nuts if desired

Heat oven to 350F

Mix all dry ingredients EXCEPT SUGAR in a bowl…set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar.

Add bananas, eggs, and water.

Slowly mix in the dry ingredients. Do NOT overmix.

Stir in nuts.

Pour into greased loaf pans and bake until toothpick inserted into middle comes out clean…about an hour or so.
